NAAAtionals sign Tony Womack, Travis Lee, 10 more nobodies to minor league deals.
Lee to serve as an insurance policy at first base for Nick Johnson and Larry Broadway -- maybe more for Broadway than for Johnson, since everybody knows that Nick won't be back until August. The word is that Lee can't hit, but he's great defensively. Also, he might have the worst picture on file with MLB of any player in baseball, ever.
77-year-old 37-year-old Womack to serve as an insurance policy for Guzman: In the event that Guzman isn't terrible AND Womack makes the team, Nats fans won't have Damian Jackson to kick around anymore, so Womack will be a prime candidate for the essential position of BGWMFA: "Bench Guy Who Makes Fans Angry". And it doesn't hurt that he appeared in nine games for the Reds last year -- this pretty much means he's a lock to make the team since, for Bowden, Reds = Good.
