- Players continue to trickle into camp. Half-a-dozen Dominican players experiencing visa problems.
- We couldn't agree more: "The only thing worse than no news is meaningless news". Every year it's the same thing: All winter long we wait for pitchers and catchers to report, then after the first day or two we realize all over again how boring it is. Can't Jimbo just hurry up and trade The Chief to the Red Sox? There's only so much we can say about Tony Batista and Dmitri Young, starting pitching, and Cristian Guzman, etc. etc.
- It's official: Frank Robinson Day is a no-go. Frank hates Stan and Jim, says thanks but no thanks to a day in his honor on May 20th.
- Cordero and his agent met with Bowden to try to work out a deal.
- Soriano arrived four days early to Cubs camp, says he's excited about making the switch from left to center: "I did not believe, myself, that I had the talent to play the outfield. The second half, I saw (for) myself that I can play outfield. I think I have the talent, I have the condition to play outfield...I want to do the same thing I did in Washington -- just practice a lot."
