"It's not about me. Every day I go out there, they give me the opportunity to go out there and pitch for as long as I can. I'm fortunate that I pitched the seventh inning today and we had a chance to win all day."
(Jason Bergmann, via Washington Times, 4/30/2007)
Mets 1, NAAAts 0: Bergmann brilliant again (except with the bat), but botched bunts, blown chances, John Maine rule the day.
Road trip! NAAAts head west to San Diego for three. John Patterson already blaming jet lag for his poor performance tonight.

I was AT this game. It was a good pitching performance by Maine, a less (but still) good by Bergmann. He hurt himself in many situations, but found ways to get out of things.
Maine outdid our hitters. We did exactly what you write, missed all our chances. You could feel it though when Zimmerman got up, that the crowd expected him to come through. And were very let down when he didn't.

Definitely impressed by Bergmann -- The poor guy deserves to at least have 1 win to his name at this point... he's been pretty damn good ever since Bowden ripped into him at the beginning of April...
