"I know late in the game if we're in the ninth inning and [Austin] Kearns is in right and Logan's in center and Langerhans is in left...there's not a better outfield in this league defensively."
(Jim Bowden, via Washington Post, 05/03/2007)
Big Deal. Bowden trades Snelling for Langerhans.
No complaints here, but Langerhans has no connection to the Reds, so we're still trying to figure out the logic behind this one...and the offense-for-defense explanation just doesn't add up.

I've done a lot of deep soul searching on this trade. Why trade a young offensive prospect for an older less offensively productive player? Why do so when you are in an offensive slump? (if a slump is permanent, what do you call it?)
The only reason I can come up with is Stan Kasten. He had direct contact with Langerhans-olo, so I think he directed the trade. He's been infected by Bowden, he's going to trade for all his old players he's coveted.
