"Logan is patient at the plate and, obviously, he has been getting on base more. There is no question about getting the ball [in the outfield]. We really needed some more offense out of that spot."

The End of The Platoon: Manny installs Nook Logan in center (again).
Sure Nook's hitting a little bit lately and getting on base more, but doesn't it seem like just yesterday when Alex Escobar was thisclose to returning? Would've been Church in center, AE in left? Damn you, Alex Escobar! I wonder how that throwing program is coming along in Florida?
How about dumping Langerhans and calling up Watson?
Meanwhile...
- Kudos to the Nationals for the Negro Leagues Tribute last night. Love the Grays unis.
- Is Mark Zuckerman seriously concerned about a 'potential logjam of starters' with Simontacchi, Hill, Bergmann, Bowie, all set to return in the season's final two months? If the first four months of the season has taught us anything, it's that injuries will sort this little 'problem' out -- someone will have a setback, someone will get sore, etc. etc. On a related note, the word is that Ross Detwiler continues to impress and could still make an appearance in Washington this season. What's the rush? Next stop for Ross, Potomac. And Hill starts tonight for Potomac.
- I guess if MLB had moved the Expos to Monterrey instead of Washington they would've needed metal detectors at the stadium? If they had built a new stadium in Monterrey, would there have been enough parking spaces?
- "Nobody wants to be the guy." Bonds went homerless last night; let's hope he gets it over with tonight or tomorrow. Maybe he'll hit two off Clay Hensley tonight?

I bet you feel like a moron. It's only the top of the eighth inning and Nook Logan is 3 for 3 with 2 rbi, 2 runs scored, a walk, and a stolen base.

Well, yes, maybe just a little bit. But that feeling is no different than any other day really. And that doesn't change the fact that I'm disappointed we didn't get to see one of those 3 week flashes of brilliance by Alex Escobar this year. I guess there's always a chance he'll show up sometime later this season. Maybe AE should've headed up to Canada with the Big Pattsy for some of those special injections?
