"...obviously he's spent so much time trying to control his disease that the fitness part of it wasn't the No. 1 priority there. Now he's going to start on that, basically, and as I mentioned before, I think the offseason is going to be a very important time for him."

Hey! Welcome back, Dmitri Young!
Unfortunately, according to Manny Acta, it turns out that only Prong 1 of the "two-pronged mission" is complete: his diabetes is in check. Good news. Prong 2 (fitness), apparently has not been achieved. And sadly, now there's a Prong 3 (quad injury, see Prong 2, which may or may not have occurred on $1.00 hot dog night in Vermont).
So, who knows when (if?) we'll see Da Meathook back in the lineup? Viera in '09? Is he (at least) available to pinch hit?
All kidding aside, hope you get your sh*t together again, Dmitri, and keep it together...

Can't someone ask the hard questions about or of Dmitri?
How did you not know you had diabetes? Were you not aware that you were overweight? Did the training staff discuss with you your weight issues?
And even, there are rumors you have a drinking problem, is this true? Did this contribute to your diabetes issue? Did you seek any counseling for your drinking issues?
And even, what did you eat yesterday? Are you keeping a food log? Who sets your daily food intake? Do you hid hot dogs in your beard or afro?
Prong 2B should be: Keep Dmitri away from Elijah Dukes.

Sadly, if DMeat is taking this long to 'get back', then he obviously has super-serious health issues of a far higher urgency than playing baseball....
