He's Rijo's Daddy?
According to unnamed sources with little or no knowledge of the situation, Carlos Alvarez Daniel Lugo, formerly known as Esmailyn Gonzalez, and now the centerpiece of the Washington Nationals fraudulent international scouting operation, is actually the father of Nationals special assistant to the GM, Jose Rijo.
Also, sources tell the Nationals Enquirer at this hour that Carlos Alvarez Daniel Lugo is actually a 60 year old man named Carlos Alvarez Daniel Jose Rijo Lugo.

Stanley King, Lugo's agent, would like the world to know that his client is sorry for his role in perpetrating this fraud, and would like you to believe Mr. Gonzalez... make that,Mr. DanielLugo, whatever, is also a victim, just like the Lerners:
"I spoke to him for the first time [since the story broke]...He was very contrite. You could hear the relief in his voice as well. I could hear by the tone of his voice that he was remorseful."

"I don't know where the origins of this thing are. It seems to me this thing is much too complicated and involved for a 19- or 20-year-old from an impoverished neighborhood to pull off... He may have been duped as much as anyone."
(Stanley King, via Nationals Journal, 2/19/2009)
Who knows? Eventually maybe the evidence will show that this kid young man was simply a pawn in a much bigger game. It certainly seems like a plausible theory. Regardless, he could win himself some points by giving up some names. Next question: what the hell do the Nationals do with him? What happens to Carlos Alvarez Daniel Jose Rijo Lugo when he's no longer a man playing among boys in the Gulf Coast League?
