"I like our depth and the possibilities -- position-wise. I really like our potential for the veteran bench we could have. That's very exciting to me. But like everything, it always has been and always will be about pitching. We have decided to go with young pitchers, and that's a little bit of a crapshoot."

"I'm sure we're gonna be having talks with everyone. It's also an extra-long spring training this year, so that means just one more week of that kind of talk among teams and GMs. So it's certainly possible. I don't know that signings will happen; I wouldn't rule it out, but I don't know that is going to happen. But I would expect heavy trade talk between now and opening day."

Stan's gag order on Jimbo extends for another day?
Suddenly Stan Kasten is everywhere. And another day passes and barely a peep out of Jim Bowden.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, Jim was out West for Zimmerman's arbitration hearing. But we found it a little surprising to hear (read) barely a peep out of Jim yesterday in the main stream media. Is Jim's cellphone broken? Not a single Jimbo quote on Nationals dot com. Nothing in the Washington Times. A single quote in the Washington Post: Apparently he still has access to his email; according to the Washington Post, he had this to say about the ongoing negotiations with Zimmerman (via Washington Post 2/21/2009):
Bowden said on Friday by e-mail that "we continue to work on a multiyear contract while continuing an excellent relationship."
But was that even Jim? Did Stan hack his email account? Where's Jimbo? What have you done with him, Stan?
Official press release coming any day now?

This fills me with hope.
