(Photo of TV/MASN by Nationals Enquirer Staff. Jim Riggleman basks in the afterglow of loss #99.)
"It was one of those days when not much goes right, and it was embarrassing...We played well for three or four innings, and then the wheels fell off."
(Willie Harris, via Washington Post, 9/23/2009)"It was not a good performance. It was not good baseball."

Manny Acta never saw one this bad!
#99 is the most lopsided loss yet.
Dodgers 14, Nats 2: This one was over in the fourth thanks to Livan Hernandez, but they played nine anyway.
Can they please just let Ian Desmond play SS for the rest of the season to help make Mike Rizzo's job a little easier in the offseason?
"He's a ballplayer. He's not necessarily a second baseman or a shortstop. He's going to be whatever we need him to be, and I think he's going to be a good one."
(Jim Riggleman, via Nationals Journal, 9/22/2009)
And now the only thing standing between Nats and 100 losses is 0-6 Ross Detwiler.

WHERE does this Riggleman statement come from????
Does HE think Desmond can be the uber utility guy? Does Rizzo? Do Nats scouts and minor league coaches?
Is Riggleman talking out of his arse?

Manny Acta managed a 15-1 loss to the Tigers at RFK Stadium on June 19, 2007. So yes he did see one this bad!

I was at last night's bad fest. A true Natsterpiece far worse than the horrifying box score would indicate. My favorite was the sixth inning play where Dunn, Desmond, and whichever arsonist was on the mound all converged on a tapper to the right side and no one remembered to cover first. The bad is back, big time!
