Happy 28th Birthday to Brian Bruney, who found out on Wednesday, his birthday, that he lost his arbitration case. That's some birthday gift. The birthday boy asked for $1.85 million; Ted Lerner wanted to pay him $1.5 million, and didn't want to split the difference. FJB's "You Suck -- Welcome Back!" post probably deserves another read.
Dave Sheinin captured Bruney's reaction to Tuesday's arbitration hearing:
Bruney, who had never attended an arbitration hearing before, said it was "an ugly process" that was "not the ideal way" to start a relationship with a new franchise.

Hey, we almost forgot to mention that MASN announced its Nationals Spring Training TV schedule yesterday. Four games total: Friday 3/12 (1pm vs. NYY); Monday 3/15 (7pm vs. ATL); Wednesday 3/24 (7pm vs. NYY); Saturday 4/3 (4pm vs. BOS). Go here to read the official release.
Speaking of MASN, Ben Goessling is looking for music suggestions for his Spring Training trip to Viera (he's making the trip on Saturday).
Finally, the People's Champion, Mark Zuckerman, arrived safely in Savannah Wednesday evening. He'll finish the rest of his trip to Viera on Thursday.
