In 2008, Seattle Mariners manager John McLaren hired Jim Riggleman to be his bench coach. Later that season, the Mariners fired McLaren and named Riggleman Interim Manager. At the end of the 2009 season, new Nationals manager Jim Riggleman hired John McLaren to be his bench coach. Now, according to sources with no knowledge of the situation, the Washington Nationals have fired Riggleman and named McLaren Interim Manager.
