(Photo of TV by Nationals Enquirer staff. Livan Hernandez talking to the MASN crew after his five inning start Wednesday night against the Yankees. Our sources tell us he iced his shoulder with a giant slab of frozen meat wrapped in towels; then ate it later in the evening.)
Ageless wonder Livo's a lock.
"I don't know how old he is. I think he's been pitching 13 years or something. I'm not sure how old he is or was when he got here. ...It seems like he's been pitching forever...You just put him out there, you feel like he's going to give you a good effort, give your team a chance to wint he ballgame. Five days later he's gonna give you the same thing."

Best of all, via Nationals Journal, he got in shape over the winter by playing racquetball against other senior citizens at a Miami gym.
Seems like only yesterday Mike Rizzo wouldn't return his calls...
"[My agent and I] sent a proposal. I'm waiting for Rizzo to call me back, so I don't know what's going on. I called him a couple of times, and he never called me back. I want to go back to the Washington Nationals."
(Livan Hernandez, via Nationals.com, 1/27/2010)
Nowadays, he's looking like Old Reliable Livan: and a lock for the 2010 rotation.
And yes, we're being swayed by one of those "Good Livo" starts: 5 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 2 BB, 3 K; and not just against a bunch of scrubs -- that was the Yankees Opening Day lineup!!
