And no, we don't mean that message. On Friday morning, Bill Ladson posted a message on his blog from Elijah Dukes addressed to...Nationals fans, Jim Bowden, Mike Rizzo, someone named Harolyn Cardozo, and one of the candidates Rizzo has in mind to patrol right field this season for the Nats, Willie Harris. In case you don't feel like clicking, here's the message in it's entirety, lovingly copied and pasted from Ladson's blog:
I really want to tell the fans of DC, Jim Bowden and Mike Rizzo thanks a lot for helping me out in many ways. I really grew up a lot because of those two guys. I also want to give a hug to Harolyn Cardozo and Willie Harris for the time that I needed people the most. A special thanks to them.

To be honest, we feel a little dirty being lumped in there like that with Jim Bowden...but the gesture by Dukes is appreciated.
Here's hoping that the little Tweet by Ken Rosenthal on Thursday (yeah, we know, it's ancient history at this point!) is accurate ...
OF Elijah Dukes, released by #Nationals, could be back in game fairly soon. Multiple teams interested, agents keeping low profile. #MLB

...but here's hoping none of those "multiple teams" are in the NL East.
Godspeed, Elijah Dukes.

Thanks for the video. That was Elijah every game at Nats Park whether in the dugout or the Rightfield line.
We will miss him!

We'll miss him too -- you hear the whispers about apparent 'issues' in the clubhouse ... but Dukes always seemed accomodating and friendly interacting with fans. That counts for something. Wishing him the best.

Being a former Guard at the "A" lot Dukes always spoke and was accomodating to fans that was outside the gate. I would say more accomodating than the so-called brass. GOOD LUCK BIG FELLA!!!!!!
