In the video above, Craig Stammen does an interview in the dugout at Great American Ball Park during the last series against the Reds with a reporter from his hometown newspaper, the Daily Advocate (of Darke County, Ohio). Stammen is from a little town called Versailles, population ~2600. Among other things, Stammen admits in the interview to being "a little disappointed" at missing out on starting a game in Cincinnati against the Reds, the team he rooted for as a kid. Maybe next year.
In other Darke County news, 14-year old Ruby Jo Walls showed off her muzzleloader skills against 10 other contestants to nab 2010 Miss Annie Oakley honors. Walls is apparently the Bryce Harper of muzzleloader shooting.
But enough about Ruby Jo. Wonder which Craig Stammen shows up in Milwaukee tonight? The guy who gave up a combined 11 earned runs, 14 hits, in consecutive losses his first two starts in July against the Mets and Giants, or the guy who gave up a just a run on 6 hits his last time out against Florida? Your guess is as good as Steve McCatty's.
Nats go for three in a row tonight. Hope the good Craig Stammen shows up.
Ross Detwiler will start Sunday for the Nationals in place of Luis Atilano.
