And so arguably the worst relief pitcher in the brief history of the Washington Nationals (and that's saying something!) has reportedly signed with the White Sox -- according to ESPN Chicago. This is good news, because even though Brian Bruney was finally released by the Nationals last May after a tremendous run of futility and walks, there was always a lingering fear that Mike Rizzo would bring him back this offseason for another run.
So, you're off the hook, Rizzo: Even though it's looking painfully obvious that Adam Dunn is not coming back, at least Nationals fans won't have to suffer through more Brian Bruney Blowtorch Hell in 2011.
Bruney's numbers during his 2-month career as a National don't even begin to capture how bad it got:
19 G, 17.2 IP, 21 H, 20 BB, 18 R, 15 ER, 7.64 ERA, 2.32 WHIP.
Things are looking up in NatsTown!

Just reading the name "Brian Bruney" alone is enough to make me break out in hives. My god he was awful.

I have a Nationals mini-helmet autographed by Brian Bruney. Wonder if I can rub the signature off?
