Scratch another "top-of-the-rotation" starter off Mike Rizzo's list.
We somehow missed this "news" earlier in the week until a Tweet by @ AMandFM Friday night: The man who started the first official game at Nationals Park in 2008 (therefore earning the classification of former "top-of-the-rotation" starter) is off to Korea. On Wednesday, Enrique Rojas of ESPN Deportes Tweeted that Odalis Perez signed a deal to pitch for the Doosan Bears of the Korean Baseball Organization:
Our dream* of Odalis Perez returning to Washington has been snuffed out, and our personal punchline for every attempt by Mike Rizzo to upgrade the Nationals rotation is gone. Guess Rizzo was done shopping anyway.
*and by dream, we mean "nightmare"

Right now, until the Rizzo's next trade its Tom Gorzelanny. He is probably better than any pitcher short of Strasburg .. although Zimmermann has the potential to be as good as Matt Cain. Clearly Rizzo thought Jordan Zimmermann and Ross Detwiler needed real competition: enter Tom Gorzelanny and Yunesky Maya.

@peric -- our money's on Livo as de facto Ace...until Zimmermann lives up to potential and/or Strasburg returns in September. Whichever happens first.
