Nationals first-round draft picks in big league camp posed together on picture day on Friday in Viera. Wonder how it felt for 2006 and 2007 first rounders Chris Marrero and Ross Detwiler to pose for this photo? Hey, maybe this is the year both finally make Jim Bowden look like a genius for drafting 'em?
Meanwhile...based on Adam Kilgore's snapshot of the last full-squad workout of the spring on Sunday it sounds as if the Nationals are doing everything possible to knock Bryce Harper down a few notches:
The funniest moment came early in the workout, when Nationals players were conducting a drill in which players practiced helping teammates slide or stand coming home while acting as the on-deck batter. (Yeah, they practice stuff like that. Everyone is ready for games to start.) Every player was told to stand -- except Bryce Harper, who was directed to slide into the plate. He was the only player walking around with dirt on his pants all practice.

At so, meaningless games start Monday, replacing tedious reports of bunting drills and outfielders practicing with footballs. And of course, we're totally jazzed for Bryce Harper's first Spring Training AB tomorrow against the Mets...one day closer to Opening Day!

Had no idea Detwiler was that tall. Those guys make Zim look short.
