(...but is that 33 years too many? Photo is via a Twitpic by @natstix.)
Among the changes at Nationals Park for the upcoming season (odd hot dog flavors, no ugly red tent!) there's apparently a new banner hanging on Parking Garage B celebrating the150 year anniversary of baseball in Washington: 1859-2009. Okay, so what if it's 2011 and the banner is being hung up a couple of years late for the anniversary? It's the thought that counts: a nice looking, harmless banner to dress up an eyesore.
Not to nitpick (okay, we're nitpicking) shouldn't the banner read: "117 Years of Baseball in the Nation's Capital 1859-2009" to account for the 33 years Washington spent without baseball starting in 1972? Or maybe *gasp!* keep it at 150 and stick an Orioles logo on the banner? *ducks and covers* So many questions about this curious new banner. Perhaps we're missing the point.
Meanwhile, weather forecast for NatsFest/Opening Day is not looking good, but NatsFest will go on rain or shine Wednesday. Here's the complete schedule of events via the Nationals. Tickets for NatsFest can be purchased online at nationals.com/natsfest.

A nice idea, though not executed as well as it could have been which seems to be the overall narrative...
