(Triple digits for Storen? Nah. Screen grab of TV/MASN.)
Drew Storen's appearance in the 9th inning came much too late, but he still struck out David Wright swinging on a 96 (?) 97(?) MPH fastball to end a nightmare inning for the Nationals. On the previous pitch (5th of the AB), MASN's radar gun registered 100 MPH on a high fastball.
Now, if that pitch registered 100, just imagine what MASN's radar gun reading will be for Henry Rodriguez? 105? 106?
Also, since when is Drew Storen growing a beard?

Is he a Caps fan? Maybe a playoff beard? Either way... keep it up Drew!

Yeah, we saw the 100 on the scoreboard and were a bit surprised. As for the beard, I like it. I don't think he should go for full growth though.

This is the same radar gun that said Strasburg threw 103 in his debut.
Also it looks like Storen is letting his hair grown out as well. Werth effect?

I don't trust stadium guns, but I do trust pitch fx.
http://www.brooksbaseball.net/pfxVB/pfx.php?month=4&day=27&year=2011&game=gid_2011_04_27_nynmlb_wasmlb_1%2F&pitchSel=519322&prevGame=gid_2011_04_27_nynmlb_wasmlb_1%2F&prevDate=427
Per pitch fx, he topped out at 96 that day. We've seen him throw harder (97.1 at one point last week). not 100.
