Nats drop 2 of 3 to the Cardinals? Well, that's not good. But you have to just take the silver linings wherever you can find them: at least the Nationals didn't catch what Tony La Russa's got on his face.
Here's Tony La Russa, via the Belleville News-Democrat, describing his "extreme" case of conjuntivitis:
"Actually, it just looks bad. I'm not in a lot of pain. It just scares kids. Like bad makeup in a horror movie. I get a little weary dealing with it."
(Tony La Russa, via Belleville News-Democrat.com, 4/20/2011)
Come to think of it, the same could be said for the Nats' offense thus far...

I don't know what's scarier - that picture of LaRussa or watching Matt Stairs' carcass attempt to pinch hit every couple of games. I think Stairs?

Anonandon - Definitely Stares! The sign read "In Case Of An Emergency-Use Stairs" and on Wednesday Riggleman used Cora as a pinch-hitter then Nix. Rizzo must have called him and asked why he didn't use Stares. So on Thursday, Riggleman PHs with Stares who strikes out again only this time he went down swinging.
I guess if you keep using him the law of averages takes effect and he will get a hit or that elusive HR.
