(Stephen Straburg turned up the heat on Mike Stanton to end the first inning. Screen cap via MASN/TV.)
...but that's not even the most impressive thing he did Saturday night.
So much for those concerns about velocity - Stras hit 98, 99 in the 1st inning, was still hitting 96, 97 on the gun consistently in the 6th.
But velocity, strikeouts? Those things weren't even the most impressive aspects of Strasurrection III: How about a 5-pitch 5th? How about an 8-pitch 6th? How about 61 pitches-45 strikes? Strasburg's line: 6 IP, 1 ER, 4 H, 0 BB, 3 K. Beautiful.
Can we just hit the fast-forward button to 2012 now?

Instead of 160-inning limit next year, they should do it by total pitches. It's clear that 160 innings for a "normal" pitcher is about 200 for St. Stephen.

That double to Volstad wasn't too sexy.
