Drew Storen talks about Bryce Harper and the Cowboys

"If he's putting balls in the third deck at Nats Park, I'm fairly certain people won't be mad seeing him wearing a Cowboys hat around town."

Drew Storen phoned in for an interview on Overtime with Danny Rouhier on 106.7 The Fan DC  Monday night (direct link to the audio here). Fantastic interview, in which Storen talked about how he's been working this offseason on adding a changeup to his mix. Oh, and other topics, like, his entrance music, the state of the Nats farm system, Matt Capps, and at the 9:30 mark of the interview, of course, Storen touched on Bryce Harper's rooting interests and ability to stir up trouble on Twitter in 140 characters or less:

 "I don't know. I've seen the stuff that's been going on, and that's his personality. And you know what? He's playing well to back it up. So, you know what? You've got to play well to back it up, and that's good. But...I'm impressed. I'm impressed by his skill and if he plays well to back all of it up I think people will let it slide that he's not necessarily a big Redskins fan. ... If he's putting balls in the third deck at Nats Park, I'm fairly certain people won't be mad seeing him wearing a Cowboys hat around town."

Watch Bryce Harper's Eastbay cover shoot interview

Here's video of Bryce Harper doing an interview at his cover shoot for an upcoming cover of Eastbay (includes warpaint!). Here's Harper talking about the hype:

"You know, right now the hype's pretty real...Nothing's really changed. Playing throughout highschool and stuff, the hype was always 'can he do this, can he do that, can he do this, can he do that,' and it just keeps coming. So, the sky's the limit, and I'm just gonna keep going until I get to the top."

Meanwhile, the Washington Post's Jason Reid registered a "Bryce Harper needs to grow up" column in Tuesday's paper (note to Reid: Harper is 19 for F's sake, come on!), which featured some classic quotes from Mike Rizzo on Harper's "cocky bone and ego bone":

"...there’s not a malicious bone in his body. Now, there’s a cocky bone in there. And there’s an ego bone. And there are other bones … but there’s not a malicious bone in his body.

He loves being a Washington National. He wants to be a Washington National for the length of his contract. This is the way he sees himself. He wants to go into the hall of fame with a Washington Nationals hat on. He wants to win championships and that sort of thing. That’s who he is."

Bryce Harper's car inspires!

And so, Bryce Harper posted a picture of his car on Twitter today, and naturally it got...a reaction. You gotta hand it to him. There's the photo, above: "The whip! Flat black wheels! #swag" via @BHarper3407.

In any case, the photo inspired 106.7 The Fan's Chad Dukes (@chaddukes) -- yes, that's the flagship radio station of the Washington Nationals, folks -- to call Harper a "huge douche":

*shrug* Seems a little unnecessary, Mr. Dukes. And that thing isn't nearly as impressive as Bryce Harper's monster truck.

Michael Morse, magazine star.

Yes, that's Michael Morse in a magazine, jumping into a pool fully clothed in his new spread in Athlete's Quarterly. According to @aq_mag's Twitter profile, "Athletes Quarterly is the upscale lifestyle magazine for current and former professional athletes." And nothing says upscale current professional athlete like diving in a pool in a tux. Fantastic.

The 2012 Bowman Platinum Baseball series will be released in July; it features a one-of-a-kind Bryce Harper Bat Plate card, which, according to Sports Collectors Daily, "is a one-of-one Bryce Harper Bat Plate card, taken from a bat Mr. Harper is said to have used in an Arizona Fall League game last year." Video of the Racing Presidents in Cupid's Undie Run in DC on Saturday.

Teddy and George participated in Cupid's Undie run in DC on Saturday (video also here); a race in which hundreds of people run over a mile down Pennsylvania Avenue in their underwear in the cold to raise money for the Children's Tumor Foundation. Noted: Teddy and George kept their pants on. Teddy didn't win, of course.
