Here's video of Bryce Harper doing an interview at his cover shoot for an upcoming cover of Eastbay (includes warpaint!). Here's Harper talking about the hype:
"You know, right now the hype's pretty real...Nothing's really changed. Playing throughout highschool and stuff, the hype was always 'can he do this, can he do that, can he do this, can he do that,' and it just keeps coming. So, the sky's the limit, and I'm just gonna keep going until I get to the top."
Meanwhile, the Washington Post's Jason Reid registered a "Bryce Harper needs to grow up" column in Tuesday's paper (note to Reid: Harper is 19 for F's sake, come on!), which featured some classic quotes from Mike Rizzo on Harper's "cocky bone and ego bone":
"...there’s not a malicious bone in his body. Now, there’s a cocky bone in there. And there’s an ego bone. And there are other bones … but there’s not a malicious bone in his body.
He loves being a Washington National. He wants to be a Washington National for the length of his contract. This is the way he sees himself. He wants to go into the hall of fame with a Washington Nationals hat on. He wants to win championships and that sort of thing. That’s who he is."
