"John's my guy."

...or at least he was Davey Johnson's guy a little over a week ago when he was named #5 starter.

Once upon a time, John Lannan would be getting ready to take the ball for the Washington Nationals on Opening Day right about now. Then again, the same could be said for Odalis Perez. The times they are a changin'.  Today, John Lannan is checking a map for directions to Syracuse. Seems cruel.

John Lannan optioned to Triple-A Syracuse; Ross Detwiler is the new #5 in the Nats' starting rotation.

So Ross is Davey's guy? Or more importantly, Rizzo's guy?

"It was a difficult decision, just because of who John Lannan is, what he means to the franchise and what he's done for us in the past. "But I look at it this way: Detwiler earned the job. He deserved the job. It was a prudent baseball move, for the current Nationals and for the future Nationals."
