Steve McCatty chats with Stephen Strasburg after Stras escaped major trouble in the first inning Wednesday with no help from home plate umpire Larry Vanover. Guess Vanover didn't appreciate Stras asking him where a pitch missed in the first.
"He still gets frustrated over certain things, maybe a call that he thinks is a strike. He can’t worry about it. Get past it. You’re not going to get it back by yelling at him, asking him questions."

Nationals 4, Mets 0: Stephen Strasburg survives Larry Vanover's early squeeze, outduels Johan Santana, shuts down Mets: 6 IP, 2 H, 3 BB, 9 K, 108 pitches-63 strikes.
Meanwhile...Drew Storen has surgery to remove bone chip from elbow. Get well soon, Drew. See you after the All Star break?

20 years from now stras will write a book of his life, and trash that ump, and it will be around forever for that umps grandkids to read. the ump will not get a book deal. a ball is a ball and a strike is a strike and retribution is not what your job is mr. ump.
