And so, while Bryce Harper and his bat-meets-wall-meets-eye-bleeding incident has captured the imagination of the nation, Harper is back in the Nats starting lineup Saturday night. 10 stitches later, and Harper's eye is looking much better, thank you very much.
Of course Davey Johnson took some shots at Bam Bam before the game, and reminded us all that it could've been a lot worse.
"Obviously, the whole night he was overly aggressive. He hit that wall pretty hard. Maybe it knocked some sense into him.
...We were actually very fortunate...It could have been a heck of a worse." (Davey Johnson, via Nationals Journal, 5/12/2012)
It would have been soooo Washington Nationals for it to have been a heck of a lot worse, and for Harper's career to have been derailed because of that little tantrum. Dodged a bullet. Make that, bat.
