Quite the scene in the 9th inning Wednesday night, when Jayson Werth (in the on deck circle) fake-tossed a Danny Espinosa foul ball to Phillies fans, only to roll the ball into the Nats dugout. A chorus of boos ensued (video)...and then Werth singled up the middle (video) to drive in two and send most of the fans who remained at Citizens Bank Park home.
Nats win, magic number down to 4.

And so, while the Nationals mostly downplayed their clinch of a playoff berth last week, the Braves celebrated theirs last night like they just won the World Series. Video evidence above (via AJC.com). Good for them for blowing off some steam. Wonder if the Nats could've used some of that, eh Davey?

So Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army General Ray Odierno (@GENRayOdierno) Tweeted the photo above today of Teddy running with some Army guys in DC.
Judging by a post on DC Sports Bog, Andy Feffer is loading up a new marketing campaign ("Teddy in 2012") for the final home series at Nationals Park to finally allow Teddy to wiin a race in order to make sure there are butts in the seats. Ironically, the Let Teddy Win blog points out that the Nationals are ironically jumping on the Let Teddy Win bandwagon. That's a lot of irony.
Dear Andy Feffer (since you're reading this, here's a freebie): Don't let Teddy win a race in the final regular season home series of 2012 next week, but let Teddy win every race in a home playoff game so you can keep the stupid regular season losing streak intact. Thank you.
So Washington Nationals 2012 NL East Division Champs t-shirts exist, seen in this pic posted on Twitter by @bscrafford. That's kind of scary.
But with the magic number at 5 entering tonight, and given the remaining possible clinch scenarios, none is sweeter than the possibility of the Nats spraying champagne around the visitors clubhouse at Citizens Bank Park on Thursday wearing t-shirts like those seen above.

And so Bryce Harper battled with the Sun Monster again on Monday, this time with better results. The same could not be said for Milwaukee's Carlos Gomez. Payback...
