"It was pretty cool. It was pretty weird. I thought they were waiting for me to swing, and then everybody started running. It was such a crazy moment. Might as well have some fun with it."
(Michael Morse, via Washington Post, 9/30/2012)
So here's the video of Michael Morse's magical first inning grand slam(s) Saturday night, both during his the same AB, one without his bat. Amazing. Here's a GIF of the invisible bat swing. Michael Morse hit a grand slam that was first called a single, and then Morse was tagged out at first; then the umpires reviewed the call, and reversed it, correctly calling a grand slam, sent Morse back to home to rerun the bases. So Morse swung an invisible bat before breaking into his home run trot.
And below, screen caps (via MLB.com) of Morse running the bases in reverse, swinging his invisible bat, and slapping his helmet on his way back around...

This almost makes me like baseball again.

are you sure these are not replacement umps?

Morse missed such an opportunity; he should have done the whole Babe Ruth Pointing thing and then stared as the imaginary HR sailed over the wall.

That is the longest HR I have ever seen not reach the fans!
Nice fake swing Mike!
