So the Phillies have fired Charlie Manuel. The NL East won't be the same without him, and he'll be missed by at least one Nationals player:
...and of course, thanks to Jayson Werth the "Charlie Manuel for Nats manager" movement has now started:
Werth says Manuel guaranteed to him earlier this season he'd be managing again next year. Asked if he'd like to see Manuel here: "Of course"— James Wagner (@JamesWagnerWP) August 16, 2013
J. Werth wouldn't mind playing for Charlie Manuel again: "Of course. I don't know if he fits in the organization's plans, but of course."— William Ladson (@washingnats) August 16, 2013
Werth just spent 15 minutes talking about his love of Manuel. Called him best manager he's ever had.— Mark Zuckerman (@ZuckermanCSN) August 16, 2013
Godspeed, Charlie Manuel. Jayson Werth will be sure to put a good word in with Ted Lerner for you...
