Up above, the Nationals TV ad promoting the first "head-to-head showdown" between Bryce Harper and Mike Trout, which starts tonight at Nationals Park. If you close your eyes and listen, this could almost be a promo for a boxing match at the DC Armory.
Seem a little much, especially considering that Harper, according to the Washington Post's Thomas Boswell, is probably only something like the seventh best player on the Nats?
Meanwhile, in an article in the LA Times on Harper-Trout I, Trout had an interesting take on Matt Williams' stupid decision to bench Harper for "lack of hustle"/peeling off towards the dugout before reaching first on Saturday:
"For me, I run everything out, but you never know what could have been on his mind," Trout said. "I know he's hurting with a tight quad, but that's the way they play over there; you have to respect that. I think he handled it the right way. He understood what he did, and hopefully he never does it again."
