It doesn't get much better than Aaron Barrett's strikeout of Giancarlo Stanton with a nasty slider to end the 8th inning yesterday, followed by a death stare from Barrett as he walked off the field. Go ahead, watch the Vine above (via @recordsANDradio) all day long.
During his postgame interview with MASN's Dan Kolko, Ian Desmond found himself at a loss for words to describe Barrett's performance (video here):
Kolko: "It might go overlooked because of the score, but Aaron Barrett had one heck of an at bat there against Giancarlo Stanton. That's a pretty pressure packed moment there for a rookie. But he had some pretty good guts there."
Desmond: "Yeah, a lotta...uh b-, b-, uh, I'm not gonna say what I was gonna say. He did a good job. He did a good job."
What's that b-word? Balls? Was "balls", the word you were looking for, Ian? Or maybe it was "bulldog"?
"He’s a bulldog. He’s not scared of anybody. That’s why he’s on this team, and that’s why he’s going to be put in those positions many times this year."
