And so, Bryce Harper created a stir last night in Atlanta (Nats beat the Braves 4-1 in 11 innings after a 3 hour, 41 minute rain delay) when he was seen dragging his foot across the "A" in the dirt behind home plate at Turner field last night before three at bats. Apparently the Braves TV guys referred to this act as "desecrating the A", and the official Braves Twitter offered this embarrassing hashtag after the game:
What's the problem with Bryce Harper?
The Nationals outfielder dragged his foot across the Braves emblem in the dirt behind home plate - in a clearly intentional move - in each of his first three trips to the batter’s box in Saturday night’s game against the Braves.
Harper has been roundly booed in each plate appearance during the series. He apparently chose to take the lack of southern hospitality out on the Georgia clay. He kicked at the Braves’ ‘A’ emblem on his way into the left-hand batter’s box once, twice and three times.
Harper told reporters after the game it was unintentional:
Bryce Harper insists he had no idea he was walking on Braves logo. "That's the last thing on my mind when I'm walking to the plate."— Mark Zuckerman (@ZuckermanCSN) August 10, 2014
Braves fans (on Twitter) weren't impressed
Apparently Bryce Harper dragged his foot across the "A" behind home plate. Just another example of him being the least likeable human ever.— Taylor Forester (@mmmbobcats) August 10, 2014
After last night, I think it’s safe to say that we can idiot to the long list of negatives used to describe Bryce Harper— Kevin Kevinovich (@K_Waltman) August 10, 2014
Bryce Harper swiped the "A" like he is good or something. You can't do that when you suck.— Cole Chambless (@dirtybird284) August 10, 2014
