(Strasburg's ulnar collateral ligament, beard, making progress. Screengrab via CBSSports.com.)
Via DC Sports Bog, Stephen Strasburg appeared on TV during halftime of Wednesday night's SDSU-UNLV basketball game and told Ted Robinson of CBS that he's making good progress rehabbing after Stephen StrasburgTommy John surgery, and expects to begin throwing off a mound in three to four weeks. Also, let the record show that pitchers and catchers haven't even reported to Spring Training yet, but Strasburg officially got in the first "I'm in the best shape of my life" quote of 2011 by a Nationals player. Forget the below-freezing temperatures here in Washington: that definitely counts as the first official sign of spring right there.
Also, we'd be remiss if we didn't mention that the Strasbeard appears to be making solid progress after making a striking if not disturbing public debut on a video promoting his 5K Walk just over a week ago. Looking a lot less like a cross between Abe Lincoln and a Livan Hernandez neck beard these days, and more like a regular beard. And that's a good thing.
Godspeed, Baseball Jesus. See you in August in D.C.?

Don't rush it, Stras! 2012 is the goal!
