"...most importantly he can change the game with one swing of the bat."

5 losses in a row, 6 under .500, and Davey's boat is sinking...
Marlins 5, Nationals 2: Mike Rizzo almost had it right; except that on this day Jonny Gomes changed the game with two swings of the bat: one resulted in a double play with bases loaded in the third, the other a strikeout to end the 7th with runners on the corners.
But it's not fair to pin all the blame on the new guy Gomes for this one; the sluggish play, lack of timely hitting, started well before his arrival in DC.
Meanwhile, Jayson Werth got two hits, two RBI, and so talked to the media after the game:
"Up until this point, we’ve been doing the little things to help us win games, help us stay in games. I’d say the last few nights, for sure, it seems like fundamentally we haven’t been that sound. .... Just chalk that up to a bad stretch, but realistically, we’ve got to play better baseball. The last couple nights, I think we might have just lost focus."

Now what, Davey?
