So, what did Jayson Werth think of the Jayson Werth Beer Special at Duffy's? Joe McDonnell of FoxSportsWest.com asked him in LA last weekend:
Werth's reaction to his own drinking game? A typical smile and philosophical evaluation.
"Hey, that's the ups and downs of the life of a (public figure)," he said in the visitor's dugout at Dodger Stadium. "There's always going to be people saying and doing negative things, especially when a player is struggling."

Good answer, and we didn't realize Jayson Werth smiled. So THIS week is when Werth goes on a tear for, like, a week. Right?

Werth should give the fans get some return on his enormous salary and buy a beer for everyone in Nats Park.

Peanuts & Cracker Jacks, while I know your comment is wishful thinking and would never happen, how nice would it be for one of these freakin' athletes that are NOT saving lives performing brain surgery to admit how badly they were overpaid and give back to the fans!
The average player on a $70 million payroll team gets $2.8 million. Werth is playing less than average. His average salary over his 7 year deal is $18,000,000.
If annual attendence is 1.8 million (22,222 per game) then $8.44 of every game you go attend, you can say is your Jayson Werth fee over the average player cost.
Using my fuzzy logic, Jayson Werth does owe everyone 1 beer every game.

Michael, your logic is flawed. First, Werth isn't making $18 million this year and 2nd, he isn't giving anything to Washington fans IMO as I think he is here just to collect a gigantic paycheck.
When have you seen him sign autographs or high five a fan? I would say I haven't seen it. He does nothing but play mediocre baseball. All that BS he spoke about when he signed was just BS. A master salesman that sold a bill of goods.

Gonat, I think Jayson meant this for you:
"There's always going to be people saying and doing negative things, especially when a player is struggling."
I said he was "averaging" $18 million a year. I don't care about him signing autographs as much as playing clutch baseball. Sure, fan friendly should always be part of every player's norm. Its just that I don't see him being Cal Ripken here. 6 years and 2 months more to his contract, Expect It.

Great blog Nats Enquirer. Hopefully Duffy's promotion will snap Werth out of his slump.
Here is a visual that shows how productive Werth has been against the Nats next three opponents: http://experiencesap.wordpress.com/2011/07/28/whiskey-for-werth/
