(Wang fans love Morse, too. Photo via http://tw.news.yahoo.com.)
Here's Michael Morse, talking about the Chien-Ming Wang phenomenon in Taiwan:
"I can't even imagine what it must be like to be Wang here in Taiwan. He's easily the biggest celebrity." (Michael Morse, via MLB.com, 11/6/2011)
Even bigger than Brad Pitt? To the surprise of nobody, The MLB "stars" swept the 5-game Taiwan All-Star Series with a win on Sunday. One of the key takeaways, besides an entire country's love for Wang (Chien-Ming Wang, that is), is that fans apparently took to Michael Morse over there.Take this account of Morse getting mobbed by fans while out walking around one night (via Adam Kilgore/Nationals Journal):
One night, he went to the night market in Taichung.
“Within five minutes, there was a crowd of about 100 people,” Morse said. “Security came over. I had to get quarantined in the McDonald’s. (via Nationals Journal, 11/5/2011)
And then there's this sign:

I looked earlier this evening, but couldn't find a pic of Morse in the batting cage wearing a helmet that is popular with moped riders in Taiwan (as described in an article found on mlb.com).
We can only wonder how the trip has influenced his taste in music.
