But who could that be?
The Baltimore Sun reported Friday night that Scott Boras and Prince Fielder were in the Baltimore/Washington area this month to meet with the owner(s) of a major league team in the area -- but not Peter Angelos. We're wracking our brains here to figure out who this team owner could have been. Can't be the Lerners; because the Nationals have Adam LaRoche at first base. Hmmm...via the Sun:
In an attempt to market his top free-agent client to major league baseball’s biggest decision-makers, renowned player representative Scott Boras took slugging first baseman Prince Fielder on a brief tour this month to meet with several club owners.
The duo did not meet with Orioles managing partner Peter Angelos. However, one industry source confirmed that Boras and Fielder were in the “Baltimore-Washington area,” meaning they likely spoke with representatives of the Lerner family, principal owners of the Washington Nationals.
(via Baltimore Sun, 12/30/2011)
Only a matter of time now until Boras gives up hope for a long-term deal and takes up the Lerners on a shorter-term, big-dollar deal? Still shooting for Prince, eh?

I doubt it was the Lerners. Probably Cal Ripken. How good would Prince look in an IronBird uniform?

Great reading. You have been all over this for weeks when the Nats beat writers have been sitting on their fingers.

Don't knock sitting on your fingers...
My official, public position is "Who wants the fat bastard?"
However, my fantasies involve Desmond, Werth, Zimmerman, Fielder, Morse, Harper, Ramos, Espinosa,Strasburg, Zimmermann, Gio, Wang, Lannan, Detwiler, Gorzo, Burnett, Rodriguez, Clippard, Storen, with a couple of old timers with some pop on the bench plus Lombo, Flores and Bernadina...LaRoche, Ankiel?
And Rendon, Goodwin, Purke et al tearing up the minors.
Deep breaths.
I now resume sitting on my fingers, sweating.

Congrats to TNE on being a must read in the Nats Blogosphere.
Someone willing to get out on the edge and get the story!
I won't make any untasteful jokes about sitting on fingers!

Or maybe they met with Daniel Snyder. You can never have too many offensive linemen.

@Homer: we just might run with that Snyder rumor...
