[Bryce Harper optioned to Triple-A Syracuse]
A Bryce Harper interview/photo in the newest issue of GQ raised eyebrows last week (a baseball stuffed in your mouth, and quotes like "I want to play the game hard. I want to ram it down your throat, put you into left field when I'm going into second base." will do that). On Friday night, MLB Network aired a Peter Gammons interview with Bryce Harper that was taped a few weeks ago. See video, below. Apparently Harper has the same mentality when it comes to checkers as he does to baseball and football:
"I hate losing. If I'm playing somebody in checkers, I want to beat the crap out of you in checkers."
A few other notable Harperisms follow, including a nod to the town of DC:
"I hustle everything out. And, you know, even on my home runs I'm trying to get to third base before that ball lands. I don't want to disrespect that pitcher at all. Unless he's doing something to my team. If he's doing something to my team, then I'm going to disrespect him. Completely. And that's how I've always been."
"I really want to make this team. I really want to make this club because it's an exciting time for this club, this city. The town of DC."
Great article/video!

I think it's perfectly all right for Nats fans to hate Bryce Harper since he is ditching the town of DC for the city of New York as soon as possible
