(Adam LaRoche has been one of the few bright spots for the Nationals thus far. Now he's got oblique soreness. Screengrab via MASN/TV.)
And so, Adam LaRoche was a late scratch from Thursday night's Nationals lineup because of right oblique soreness. Let's let Washington Post's Adam Kilgore explain what this might mean:
If LaRoche has only soreness in his oblique, he may recover in a matter of days. But if the soreness is symptomatic of a strain, LaRoche could miss at least two to three weeks, likely more. (via Nationals Journal, 5/3/2012)
Given the way things go around here in NatsTown, the safe bet is on "likely more". And by "likely more" we're guessing he'll be down at least, oh, say, two months? Scary to think where these 15-9 Nats would be without LaRoche's bat so far.
So, who returns to a Major League game first: Mike Morse, Ryan Zimmerman, or Adam LaRoche?
Didn't Zimm have oblique soreness last season when he was out for 55 games?
