According to sources with knowledge of situations, Davey Johnson has decided to resign as manager of the Washington Nationals. This shocking news was delivered by Davey on the morning of Opening Day 2013, a season with unprecedented expectations for the Nationals.
"World Series or Bust? Screw it, I'm going fishing," Davey reportedly told reporters at Nationals Park Monday morning.
Anyway, Happy Opening Day. Quick predictions, just for the record:
Nats win 93 games. Here's how the NL East shakes out:
1. Nationals
2. Braves
3. Phillies
4. Mets
5. Marlins
Nats lose to the Reds in NLCS; Angels beat the Reds in the World Series.

By fishing, Davey meant that he is the new manager of the Miami Marlins. The timing couldn't be worse, considering that the two teams will meet this afternoon on Opening Day.

Hmmm well actually HE DID resign just as he did at the Baseball Writers dinner when he first received the manager of the year award. He resigned at the end of this season.
Which is way different from Giggleman resigning right before the All Star break.

Can't blame him for resigning as "manger." I would too.
