In an attempt to help the Nationals break out of their April doldrums, Nationals fan Hugh Kaufman led a ritual sacrifice of a rubber chicken outside the center field gate at Nationals Park at high noon before Thursday night's Nats-Reds game. Apparently sage was also burned at Jayson Werth's behest. Well, at least in the early stages of Thursday night's game, it seems to be working: Nats have broken out for six runs through the first four innings (no offense to Davey Johnson's new shaken-up lineup).
