From Cruise Control to Breakdown Lane
Cubs 8, Nationals 2: All it took was (yet another) Ryan Zimmerman throwing error with nobody on and two outs in the fifth for Stephen Strasburg to fall apart? Can't blame Zim when Stras had Edwin Jackson 0-2 a few minutes later, and couldn't end the inning, etc.
Davey Johnson's postgame comments about Strasburg were telling (video via MASNSports.com here):
"It's unfortunate, I mean, that inning he threw 40 pitches. It's hard to explain.
Where we needed him to pick us up...the air went out..."
He's too a pitcher to let adversity behind him...let him down. It's a team effort, errors are part of the game."
Sometimes he's such a perfectionist, even when a guy flies out he'll wonder if the pitch was in the right spot."
Pin this one on the "Ace".

Pathetic. The Harrisburg senators could've played the cubs better than these clowns did... on top of that they let that idiot Edwin Jackson rub their faces in ****.

Let's be honest, Strasburg is overrated. He lacks mental toughness.

I wouldn't go that far but agree Stras has to grow up at this point. You want to be an Ace? Earn it.

I agree with Davey to a point. Strasburg has something missing this year, I'm not sure what it is. But Zimmerman continues to be an absolute disaster at 3B, he's got 5 errors and it's only May. Unfortunately because it appears Rendon isn't ready, and they've signed LaRoche for two years, they don't have many options other than sending Zimmerman out there on a regular basis and hope he doesn't lose them too many more games on defense.
