Of course Bryce Harper found out about Monday night's lineup on Twitter. Who didn't?
"I haven’t talked to nobody about anything, so I have no clue. I know I’m playing left tonight, via Twitter. So I guess, I guess that’s where I’m going." (Bryce Harper, via MASNSports.com video, 6/30/2014)
And so, Bryce Harper makes his return to the Nationals Monday night after missing most of the season with a bad thumb, on Bryce Harper bobblehead giveaway night, no less.
"I’m in the lineup, that’s all that matters. If I had the lineup it would maybe not be the same. But he’s got the lineup card, he’s got the pen and he knows what he’s doing. There’s nothing I can do about it...
I think [Zimmerman] is great and he should be playing left. Rendon’s a great third baseman and he should be playing third. And we got one of the best second basemen in the league in Danny Espinosa. Of course you want the best hitting lineup in there, and I think Rendon playing third and Zim playing left is something that is good for this team and I think that should be what’s happening." (Bryce Harper, via Nats Insider, 6/30/2014)
Welcome back, kid. Should be fun...
Williams on Harper's lineup opinion: "I would say we're happy to have him back." Added he hopes he can put him in the lineup every day.
And so, it was a foggy night last night at Wrigley Field (Cubs 5, Nationals 3). Up above, video of Denard Span losing a fly ball in the thick fog in the sixth inning, which led to a Luis Valbuena triple. Good thing nobody got hurt. Here's Span:
"I didn’t even know it was coming at me, to be honest with you. I didn’t know where it was. I finally figured that the ball was coming towards me, because everybody was looking at me and pointing in my direction. But it is scary, because...once I figured out the ball was coming towards me, I didn’t want to look up. Because the last thing I wanted was to let a ball hit me in my pretty face." (Denard Span, via Nats Insider, 6/27/2014)
