On the same night Giancarlo Stanton was hit in the face by a pitch in Milwaukee, Bartolo Colon was busy in New York plunking Ian Desmond and Jayson Werth after giving up home runs. Video of Werth's HBP and Colon's ejection above -- for a moment it looked like Werth considered charging the mound, but thought better of it:
"I know the situation as good as anybody. We’ve got a lot at stake this time of year. We don’t have time for [nonsense]."
(Jayson Werth, via Washington Post, 9/12/2014)
And by "nonsense", Werth means: bullshit:
“I hit Desmond and nothing happened, so the next time I don’t really know what happened, why [the umpire] was so quick for his action."
(Bartolo Colon, via NY Post, 9/12/2014)
This look:
Nationals 6, Mets 2: Magic number, 9. Adam LaRoche and Anthony Rendon homer, Ian Desmond and Jayson Werth get plunked. And the Nats roll on.
