Well, it finally happened: Bryce Harper stepped in to face Stephen Strasburg in live BP yesterday in Viera. And it was...a 10 pitch draw. Via Mark Zuckerman/Nats Insider:
So, how did Harper fare against his fellow No. 1 draft pick? Well, he saw 10 total pitches from Strasburg, spread into two rounds of five. Harper swung at the very first pitch he saw (a fastball) and whiffed, then watched the next four go by. When he returned to the cage a few minutes later, he swung twice more, connecting nicely with a curveball on a line drive toward second base and then whiffing on Strasburg’s final fastball of the session.
No big deal, right Harp? via WaPo/Nationals Journal:
"I’m just up there to face live pitching and see some pitches, nothing else really...If I get a hit or if I strike out, I don’t even know. I mean, going up there, that [stuff] don’t really matter. It’s not a big deal to me.”
